Mandira Bedi


Mandira Bedi is a well-known Indian actress, fashion designer, and television presenter. She is best known for her role as Shanti, the title character in the Doordarshan television serial Shanti, which aired in 1994.

Mandira Bedi was born on April 15, 1972, in Kolkata, West Bengal, into a Punjabi family. Her father is Verinder Singh Bedi, and her mother is Gita Bedi. Her older brother is an investor banker.


In Mumbai, she attended Cathedral and John Connon School. She received her undergraduate degree from St. Xavier's College in Mumbai and her postgraduate degree from Sophia Polytech in Mumbai. 

Mandira worked for Ogilvy & Mather, British advertising, marketing, and public relations firm. When she was offered the lead titular role of 'Shanti' in the series of the same name, which aired on DD National in 1994 and later on Star Plus TV, she resigned from that position. 

In October 1995, she made her Bollywood debut in Aditya Chopra's romance film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. Mandira has been married to Bollywood film director Raj Kaushal since 1999. 


Raj directed Mandira in the 2004 film Shaadi Ka Laddoo. Vir, their son, was born on June 19, 2011, at Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital. She is a huge fitness fanatic, and she incorporates a gym workout, jogging, and yoga into her daily routine.

With her glamorous persona, Mandira has gained popularity as a cricket commentator, and she has hosted the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2003 and 2007. She also hosted the Champions Trophies in 2004 and 2006, as well as the Indian Premier League Season 2 for Sony Max. She hosted the IPL Season 3 coverage on the British network ITV.

She has hosted several TV shows, including the reality show Fame Gurukul, which debuted on Sony Entertainment Television on June 27, 2005, the game show Deal Ya No Deal, which debuted on Sony Entertainment Television on November 23, 2005, the comedy show Funjabbi Chak De, which aired on STAR One between November 16, 2007, and May 30, 2008, the reality television series Jo Jeeta Wohi Super Star, which debuted on Star Plus from April 11 to July 12, 2008, and the reality show Ek Se Badh
